Lot 077: Lot of Assorted Vintage Ceramic and Wooden Sundries
Estimate: $50 - $80 AUD. Starting bid: $40 AUD.
Description
A diverse collection of vintage homewares featuring several ceramic pieces and a set of wooden goblets. The lot includes a cream-bodied jug with a green glazed rim and handle, adorned with a romantic figural scene, marked "EMPRESS IRONSTONE STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND" on the base. Also present is a cylindrical cream ceramic pot with a delicate yellow and green floral pattern. A large stoneware jar with a mottled brown glaze and an organic design features a cork stopper. A set of four dark-stained wooden goblets are crafted from "W.A. JARRAH" timber, as indicated by a label on the base of one. The collection also comprises a beautiful vintage small ceramic pot with an iridescent, multi-tonal glaze and an impressed mark "EDITH VERRAN" on its base. Edith Verran was located in Albany, Western Australia and this is a true gem. There is also a unique mushroom-shaped ceramic dish with brown and cream glazes, marked "PATES POTTERIES SYDNEY AUSTRALIA" on its base.
Condition Report
General wear and tear consistent with age and use. The Empress Ironstone jug exhibits some crazing to its glaze, particularly noticeable on the green areas and around the rim. The base of the mushroom-shaped dish shows some minor discolouration or staining. The large stoneware jar's cork lid shows signs of use.
