Description
Two framed vintage certificates from the Ancient Order of Foresters 'Court Little John No 8257', dated 1946 and 1957, featuring detailed lithographic illustrations and dark wood frames. Key Details: * Origin/Era: Mid-20th Century (1946 and 1957) * Material: Paper, wood frames, glass * Style: Fraternal order memorabilia, Victorian/Edwardian revival lithography * Features: Each certifies a "Past Chief Ranger" (Bro. S. Sinclair and Bro. R.E. Sinclair respectively), signed by Chief Ranger, Sub-Chief Ranger, and Secretary. Both bear the mark "Entered at Stationers Hall" and one is marked "J. & O'S., SYDNEY". Condition: Frames exhibit wear, minor chips, and scuffs consistent with age. Glass appears intact. The paper backing on the reverse of the frames shows age and some minor tearing. Interesting fact: * The Ancient Order of Foresters is a fraternal benefit society founded in the United Kingdom in 1834, tracing its roots to the Royal Foresters established in the 18th century. * Fraternal organizations like the A.O.F. provided social support and financial benefits to members, especially before the advent of modern welfare states. Use: Decorative historical pieces for collectors of fraternal memorabilia or those interested in social history.
