Description
A vintage cut crystal pitcher and six tumblers, in the Star of Edinburgh pattern, accompanied by two silver metal serving trays. The bases employ the oval mark to the base (from 1955 mark used). Very heavy. Key Details: * Origin/Era: Mid-20th Century * Material: Cut glass, silver-plated metal (trays) * Style: Classic Barware, Diamond Cut Condition: One glass item exhibits a notable chip or significant roughness, as detailed in the close-up image. The silver-plated trays show superficial scratches, scuffs, and areas of tarnishing consistent with age and regular use. Interesting fact: * The intricate diamond-cut patterns seen on this type of glassware were a popular feature in the mid-20th century, designed to maximise light reflection and sparkle. * Silver plating became a widely adopted technique in the 19th and 20th centuries, allowing for the luxurious appearance of solid silver at a more accessible cost.
