Description
A charming six-piece decorative set by Monarch Porcelaine d'Art Limoges, France. The set includes one large vase, one medium pitcher, one small pitcher, and three miniature handled vases/jugs. Each piece is adorned with finely detailed transfer-printed or hand-painted romantic courting scenes in the style of Boucher, set within elegant panels. These scenes are framed by elaborate gilt decoration. The large vase and the three miniature pieces feature a rich maroon/cranberry coloured ground with a unique textured, mottled gilt finish, while the two pitchers are presented in a deep navy blue ground with similar gilt accents. The overall aesthetic is a delightful Rococo revival, adding a touch of classic elegance. The underside of the large vase, as well as some of the smaller pieces, bears the mark "MONARCH Porcelaine d'Art LIMOGES France".
Condition Report
Minor wear to gilt on rims and handles, consistent with age and display. Some dirt and grime visible around the base rim of the large vase.
